The Japanese brand will have a sub-brand Wilderness, which will produce significantly modified versions of conventional models.
Subaru Company intends to create a new sub-brand, under which the Japanese intend to produce the most extreme versions of their models, prepared for off-road.
The new sub-brand will be called Wilderness, which can be translated from English as “wilderness” or “deadwood. Cars in the new lineup will differ from standard cars both externally and technically.
The first representative of the Wilderness family will be a Subaru Outback station wagon, which was spotted during winter tests in early 2021. The car will receive an upgraded suspension with increased ground clearance, off-road tires, as well as additional protective elements of the body.
The engine will not be changed. In the USA, Subaru Outback is available with a 2.4-liter “turbo four” producing 264 hp and 375 Nm of torque, variator and all-wheel drive.
The Subaru Outback Wilderness is expected to premiere before mid-summer 2021. The second representative of the new sub-brand will be an upgraded version of the Forester crossover.
